Be an Oyster for Autism!
Hi my name is Angie, I am a mother of an amazing 3 1/2 yearold little boy.. He was diagnosed at the age of 2 with Autism and what a life changing experience. He recieved weekly therapy for speech, Occupational and Behavioral for the last year. At the age of 3 he started in a Developmental Preschool. I take every day as it comes we have our ups and downs. God gave me my special gift for one reason and that was to make a difference in the world. Robbie (my son) loves water and fishing and loves all sports. They keep his interest in the fast pace action. There is times I have cried myself to sleep from such a rough day but when I look over him asleep I turn around and thank God for what he has given me. Being a single mother its been very hard but in the last year i have moved in with my boyfriend who has stepped in as my sons father and has made such a big improvement with "our" son. Have a stable everyday life has helped Robbie so much. I am fortinate have great family support but also a job that lets me be home alot with my son. Daycare was one of the hardest things for me to find that could help with my sons developmental delays. Out here in Arizona there are not many Child Care Centers that can work with children that need the special attention they need and when you do find one there is a waiting list for a couple years. I am still currently on one since he turned two and still they are telling me another year.
But after my expierences I wouldnt try my life for the world and I hope now I can help make a difference to a parent who is just finding out and dealing with the same thing all of use dealt with at one point in time.

love your post.. where are you in az? I'm in Mesa. Do you have your son a support coordinator through the Department of Developmental Disabilities? Do you have respite and habilitation? We're trying to put up as much information on the forum as we can- especially az information. What are you doing now for childcare?
