Man. I love this kid. He went to the pet store with me an tate last night and he LOVED the fish. Living with autism can be pretty funny. He's tap the glass and watch all the fish scatter, and then hand flap like he was going to fly away. I don't think the fish liked it very much, but it sure made Quinn happy. He'd laugh and laugh and then do it again. We finally had to leave the poor truamatized fish alone. We finally left because we didn't like the stock of their 13 cent goldfish at Petco. WE are now larger fans of PetSmart, because they have 12 cent goldfish, much larger and a prettier color orange, so a much better deal....
Weird thing happened at the homestead... we used to have 2 goldfish, Dude and Spaz. But Dude just disappeared last week. Nobody claims to know what happened to him. I mean, he just up and vanished! I asked the babysitter and Tate if they say him floating and just threw him away, and they said no. Quinn is the only other option, but i just can't see him scooping the fish out- maybe if he was dead, but i don't think so. Certianly if the fish was alive, he wouldn't have. For one thing, when I clean the bowl, I've got to chase them around with the net for quite a while. It's not easy to catch them. They're quick. So it's a true Dude mystery. We had him about a year. One small container of goldfish food and two 12 cent fish. I don't think I've gotten more pleasure out of what amounts to about a dollar in ... well, i don't know, but we sure enjoyed Dude for about a year. Goldfish do have a personality you know. Dude was definitely a dude and Spaz is still a spaz. The new fish, we'll have to sit with for a day and see what to name it. It can't be Dude again. Has to be his own name. Or her. Hard to tell with fish.
